Delhi Traffic Police adopts AI-guided arrivals and smart parking plan for Republic Day crowds at Kartavya Path
Ahead of 26 January 2026, Delhi Traffic Police rolled out a tech-first traffic plan for invitees and spectators, including AI-generated explainer videos, QR-based parking access and mapped entry-exit routes to reduce confusion and congestion.
In the run-up to Republic Day 2026, Delhi Traffic Police is leaning on technology to manage heavy ceremonial footfall and vehicle movement around Kartavya Path. The department’s plan includes AI-generated informational videos, QR-linked parking access and navigation support intended to make arrival and dispersal more predictable for invitees.
According to the report, the police prepared animated explainer videos with the help of artificial intelligence to show step-by-step guidance on arrival, alighting, departure and parking plans. The idea is to reduce last-minute uncertainty at gates and designated lots by familiarising attendees with routes and protocols well in advance.
The traffic plan also features a parking management system that covers multiple designated parking areas and is integrated with QR-based access for invitees. Officials said a large number of passes are issued annually, and a sizeable subset of spectators arrives by private vehicles, making structured parking and controlled movement crucial for crowd safety and smoother road operations.
To help guests reach their allocated parking, the traffic police is also using widely used map platforms. The report says dedicated markings, tabs or locations are created to guide users to the correct entries and exits, reducing wrong turns and bottlenecks near the venue.
Beyond digital guidance, the plan adds more on-ground help desks at key roundabouts and crossings. A car-calling system is also introduced to prevent crowding after the programme ends by coordinating vehicles to reach exit gates in a staggered, managed manner.
